On June 3, a group of students from the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology at the University of Tokaj (Hungary) visited Caucasus International University.
The University of Tokaj chose Georgia as a country with an ancient and unique wine culture. The visit was planned within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the University of Tokaj and Caucasus International Universities.
Hungarian students were welcomed to the Faculty of Viticulture and Enology at Caucasus International University, where they were guided by Olani Gotsiridze, Dean of the faculty, David Maghradze, Head of the Scientific Department and Svetlana Kirakosyan, Head of the International Relations Department.
During the visit, the guests toured the faculty infrastructure, learned about the achievements of ongoing academic programs, and received detailed information on topics of interest.
Introductory and working meetings were held between the Hungarian and Georgian students within the framework of the visit. The Hungarian students delivered a presentation on Tokaj—one of the world’s oldest and most renowned wine regions—highlighting its rich history and unique wine production technologies.
In response, CIU students introduced their guests to the traditional Georgian qvevri wine-making method, along with the historical and cultural heritage of Georgian viticulture.
The visit concluded with a joint tasting of Hungarian and Georgian wines. Both sides expressed a strong interest in continuing and deepening the collaboration that has been initiated.
