On June 13, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities held its academic year closing ceremony at Niko Nikoladze Conference Hall, Caucasus International University.
The event was opened by Ekaterine Chalaganidze, the Dean of the Faculty, who provided an overview of the faculty key accomplishments and milestones.
Zaza Tsotniashvili, Professor, Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Journalism and the Master’s Program in Media Studies and Multimedia Production, highlighted the active participation of both academic staff and students in a range of educational and media-related projects. In addition, he awarded certificates to Caucasus International University students: Ani Gagnidze, Nano Gelantia, Guram Liluashvili, Megi Jomidava, and Tatia Kokobinadze for successfully completing programs in collaboration with DePaul University (USA).
Khatuna Kacharava, Professor, the Head of the Doctoral Program in Mass Communication, highlighted the highly qualified doctoral theses of the doctoral students and the growing popularity of the program.
Rusudan Kvaratskhelia, Associate Professor, the Producer of the Multimedia Center, awarded the winners of the photo contest within the framework of the event. In this competition, the jury, consisting of leading visual arts specialists, named the works of Mako Maisuradze, Teona Gogoladze and Mariam Sulakvelidze as the best, and Ana Tsintsadze won the “People’s Choice” nomination.
Nana Parinos, Associate Professor, the Head of the Bachelor’s Educational Program in English Language and Literature, placed emphasis on the collection of works created by the students - “A Collection of Short Stories”. In addition, she noted the active participation of first-year students in international exchange programs, including at South Korean Chonnam University.
Alika Guchua, Associate Professor, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Head of the Bachelor’s Educational Program in International Relations, focused on the scientific activities of the students and cooperation with various departments of the Faculty. Giorgi Pareshishvili, Advisor to Rector, Associate Professor, noted the scientific achievements and international collaboration. The former Ambassador of Georgia to France, Associate Professor Gocha Javakhishvili, participated in the event via video call, who drew attention to the practical activities of the students, where simulated diplomatic negotiations were noted.
Vakhtang Maisaia, Professor, Head of the Master’s Educational Programs in International Relations and International Security / Global Politics and Security Studies (in English), focused on international academic visits, various publications and the successful accreditation of the English-language program.
David Tabatadze, Associate Professor, program head, spoke about the doctoral theses of political science students and their scientific activities.
Within the framework of the event, the achievements of the faculty were assessed by Kakhaber Kordzaia, the Rector of Caucasus International University, and Marina Gedevanishvili, the Head of the Quality Assurance Service. They thanked the faculty for its productive activities and wished them future success.
At the end of the event, Mariam Sandukhadze and Sopho Kevlishvili made a musical performance for the audience.
The event was moderated by Tekla Chakalov, the educational process management specialist of the faculty.
The closing event was attended by the administrative/academic staff and students of the faculty and the university.
