Scientific Conference

Mr. Zaza Tsotniashvili, supervisor of the program in Journalism presented a significant research for our scientific circles and society at the scientific conference – Cultural Heritage on Conflict Territories on December 3rd, 2018.

The conference was opened at the auditorium of Georgian National Museum and was supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Temporary Administration of South Ossetia and International Centre for Art. The representatives of Georgian state and educational institutions, international and local organizations, research centres and universities participated in the conference.

Mr. Zaza Tsotniashvili in his report: Media of Occupied Territories about Georgian Cultural Heritage placed emphasis on information and hybrid war. According to the results of his research, information weapons are invisible and he blurs the historical heritage, causing the polarization of society.

Professor Zaza Tsotniashvili’s main recommendations during his speech are the following:

• Creating unified digital platform for cultural heritage;
• Informed population;
• Solidarity in information war;
• Activating state policy in information war for self-defense;
• Consolidation of the society for state interests.

The goal of the conference was to share with the field specialists and the general public the well-known researchers’ works on the cultural heritage existing in the occupied territories, to use international experience and to set future goals.
