On May 30, an educational and intellectually enriching event was held at Caucasus International University, marking the 1700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion in Georgia. The event aimed to deepen understanding of one of the most significant periods in the history of the nation.
The lecture was delivered by Professor Eldar Babulashvili, Doctor of Historical Sciences, who focused on the role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in the political developments of the early 18th century. Particular emphasis was placed on the leadership and influence of Catholicos-Patriarch Anton I (Anton Pirveli), highlighting his significant contributions to both the religious and political spheres of the country.
Students and invited guests had an opportunity to further understand the historical context of that era, when the Church played an important role in shaping the political image of the state.
Beyond expanding historical knowledge, the event also aimed to foster a deeper respect and appreciation for rich national heritage of Georgia among the younger generation.
